Priorities
Timiya Jackson is a DPS parent, education advocate, and community leader running for the Denver School Board in District 4. She is focused on policies that reflect the voices of families and educators, and ensure students are prepared not just to graduate, but to thrive.
Education Finance & the Budget
Every dollar should reflect our priorities.
Timiya believes our budget is a reflection of what - and who - we value. That means ensuring resources reach classrooms, not just central offices, and that our investments directly support student learning, educator success, and safe, supportive out of school time programming.
As a board member, Timiya will:
-
Push for a clear, public breakdown of how funds are spent and who benefits.
-
Fight to protect programs that serve the whole child: mental health, literacy, out-of-school time, and post-secondary pathways.
-
Ensure budget decisions are student-centered and equity-informed, not driven by politics or bureaucracy.
The budget shouldn’t be a mystery. It should be a tool for impact, trust, and better outcomes.

Community Engagement & Board Culture
Leadership should unite, not divide.
Timiya knows that lasting change starts with listening. As a DPS parent and seasoned community leader, she’s seen how disconnected leadership breeds distrust and dysfunction. She’s committed to rebuilding a school board culture that puts students first and gets results.
As a board member, Timiya will:
-
Lead with professionalism, humility, and respect for diverse viewpoints.
-
Create more inclusive, accessible ways for families, educators, and students to share ideas and shape decisions.
-
Focus on policy that puts students first because our communities deserve collaboration that leads to real classroom impact.
It’s time for leadership that brings people in, centers kids, and models the values we teach our students.

Transparency & Data
Trust starts with truth.
Timiya believes families and educators deserve honest, timely information about how decisions are made and how schools are doing. Without clarity, there can be no accountability—and without accountability, students pay the price.
As a board member, Timiya will:
-
Demand clear, consistent reporting on student achievement, school safety, and board actions.
-
Ensure the public can access data without needing to submit a CORA request.
-
Promote policies that track progress regularly and act when we fall short.
Transparency isn’t just a buzzword—it’s how we build trust, solve problems, and deliver results for kids.
